A routine traffic concern turned into one of Norway's most lucrative treasure discoveries when a driver's erratic highway maneuvering led police straight to millions of dollars in stolen bullion. Officers pulled over a swerving van outside Oslo, expecting a standard traffic violation, only to find the vehicle packed with thousands of shiny American Eagle silver coins.

Moments later, a second van pulled up carrying an equally heavy metallic stash. In total, authorities recovered nearly 67,000 silver coins with an estimated market value exceeding $2.65 million.

The massive haul turned out to be the long-lost loot from a high-stakes investment fraud scheme originating in the United States, where proceeds were illicitly converted into precious metals and smuggled overseas to evade detection.

Norwegian economic crime investigators from the specialized unit Økokrim confirmed that three individuals have now been sentenced to prison terms of up to two and a half years for aggravated money laundering. Thanks to the driver's highway swerving, the multi-million-dollar silver fortune will finally be returned to the fraud victims across the Atlantic.
